Let's just be honest.___11___Given the limited space that comes with an economy class seat, you can expect to sit for hours with a stiff(僵硬的)neck and backs, which has a bad effect on your circulation. While most people know that standing up and walking around during your flight can encourage your blood flow, it's not always possible or convenient to do so.___12___

Confused? Just hear us out. Tennis balls can put any fancy and expensive things to shame when it comes to killing pain, relieving(减轻)tightness, and improving circulation on long flights or road trips. This is why you should always pack a tennis ball for your trip.

___13___ It is practically the on-the-go self-massage(自我按摩)you never knew you needed. Not only are tennis balls tiny enough to fit into a small bag, but also using one during a flight won't bother your neighbors either. And luckily, it's not one of the things most likely to get you flagged in the security line.

There are certain areas you should target when performing a self-massage.___14___They are your ankles, wrists, legs, and upper back and shoulders. Apply gentle pressure to each area with the ball as you roll, and use extra care with any spots of tension.

Seems simple enough, right? ___15___ Always remember to fly with a tennis ball in your carry-on.

A. That's where a tennis ball comes in.

B. These days, airplanes can barely fit your own two legs.

C. Some key body parts are especially in need of your attention..

D. People are flying with just one piece of carry-on luggage nowadays.

E. But it could make your life so, so much easier and keep you healthier in the air.

F. Just make sure you're not making these airport mistakes before your next flight.

G. Rolling a tennis ball along your body loosens up stiff parts and increases blood flow.

【答案】11. B 12. A 13. G 14. C 15. E

故选A项。

切题;该选项中的Some key body parts对应下文中的your ankles, wrists, legs, and upper back and shoulders,该选项中的attention对应下文中的extra care。

Improving as a runner is about more than just running all of the time. 31

In that case, you can make large improvements as a runner in a relatively short time, no matter what your sport, race, or running habits.

32 It is common for runners to push themselves about the same amount each time, running similarly challenging runs and gradually increasing difficulty. Outstanding runners, however, alternate(交替)an easy, resting run with a very challenging one. It is during these difficult runs, when you really push yourself, that your body snakes the most significant gains. 33 Rather, it is helping rebuild and relax the muscles needed for your big runs.

Keep a relaxed but strong upper body to conserve energy efficiently. You want to keep your chin(下巴)up and your shoulders back, with loose, relaxed arm and hand muscles. Your elbows are bent at 90 degrees but swing freely. If anything, the only muscles you want to focus on keeping strong and tight are the ones in your core(核心). 34

Use your light run to work up a light sweat. A higher body temperature ensures your muscles are loose and flexible, and your body is pumping blood effectively throughout. For everything other than easy runs, use the first five to ten minutes to build a light sweat and get your body ready for exercise. 35 Slowly pick up speed for short 10 second runs, then return to normal warm-up pace. This helps prepare your muscles for speed.

A. Don't feel like an easy day is \"cheating\".

B. Alternate easy and hard runs to build strength rapidly.

C. Even five minutes of walking is a good way to get started.

D. \"Warming up\" truly means you want to warm up your body.

E. You are to pay a little attention to details and a smart training plan.

F. That's because this will naturally help you efficiently channel energy.

G. Remember to relax your face and neck muscles instead of tensing them

Training “smart” is more important than the amount of daily practice

Too often an athlete believes that the more he or she practices, the more proficient he/she will become. __31__ It can also be harmful to achieving the desired outcome. An athlete who practices frequently and hard without an overall plan will be more likely to suffer the effects of overtraining rather than actually improving performance. __32__ Yet, by developing a set of specific goals and a plan for reaching those goals, athletes can more effectively use their practice time and even reduce the time required in practice to attain their goals. Obviously,

this does not mean that the martial artist can achieve rank or win tournaments with little practice. __33__

Setting performance goals is beneficial for a number of reasons. __34__ When the martial artist is able to observe progress towards a goal on a daily or weekly basis, he or she is more likely to remain interested in achieving that goal. If instead, he/she engages in routine practice towards a belt rank that is six months away, it is easier to become discouraged. In addition, goal setting helps the athlete know what is expected which allows for greater attention to a particular skill that needs to be developed. __35__ Finally, setting realistic, achievable goals increases the athlete9s self-confidence which is crucial to the ultimate outcome of success. Self-confidence increases because his/her attitude regarding success becomes more positive as goals are accomplished.

A. It is not always the case.

B. However, such training is ineffective.

C. It reduces boredom and increases motivation.

D. Thus, practice becomes more focused and efficient.

E. It means that the athlete does not need to waste time.

Is it difficult for you to fall asleep at night, and almost impossible to get up in the morning? Oversleeping is often caused by a lack of sleep or a restless nighttime routine. __31__ Luckily, we can do something with oversleeping.

__32__

Hitting the snooze (打盹) button on the alarm in the morning for five more minutes sleep can be a lot of people’s choice. However, when you hit snooze, your brain goes even deeper into your sleep cycle. By the time you hit “snooze” several more times, and finally wake up, you will feel even more tired than if you got up with your alarm. So, if possible, instead of having your alarm close to your bed, put your alarm clock somewhere that forces you to get out of bed. Besides, make morning routine positive. __33__ Treat the morning like a positive experience and look forward to your day.

Adjust sleep habits

Do a relaxing activity before bed. __34__ Then, keep your bedroom dark. Put

up heavy curtains or shades to block the light from windows. You can also use a sleep mask to cover your eyes to help you sleep.

Talk to your doctor

When everything is tried but in vain, then speak to your doctor about problems with oversleeping. Your doctor may get you tested for sleep disorders. __35__ You may also need to let him know if you are having chronic (慢性的)issues with sleep. It is a serious issue. You should tell him if you suffer from headaches or back pain.

A. Change morning routine

B. Adjust your daily arrangements

C. Stretch, get up, and let the morning light in

D. It can lead to many oversleeping symptoms

E. You may try sleeping pills to get yourselves calm when necessary

F. You need to describe your specific symptoms or sleeping problems

G. This could be a warm bath, a good book, or a quiet conversation with your partner

You never forget how to ride a bike, but most of us forget how hard it was to learn. That’s why when adults teach children, the experience can be frustrating. 31 The fundamentals of biking are balance, coasting, pedalling (踏板) and steering (操控).

To help your child learn to balance, have her sit on the bike seat with both feet touching the ground. Then have her scoot (快速移动) the bike forwards by pushing off with her feet. 32 Show how she can coast with her feet very near the ground and how she can stop simply by placing her feet down.

33 Have her stand over the bike with one foot on the ground and one on a pedal. Before beginning, remind her how to put her feet down in order to stop the bike or regain balance. Instruct her to push down on the pedal with the first foot while placing the other foot on the other pedal just as she begins to move forward.

You can place your hand on the back of the seat to reassure and steady her as soon as she is in motion, and then let go. 34

After several successful straight runs, introduce steering. Start by making her ride in large circles that give her the feel of controlling the direction of the bike. 35 Eventually, she’ll master her turns, her speed and her stops.

When she’s really comfortable riding and steering, talk about using the brakes to stop the bike. Whether that means pedal brakes or hand brakes, emphasize slowing down before braking gently.

A. Once she’s a confident coaster, it’s time to pedal.

B. In the meanwhile, remind her to keep her feet moving.

C. The most important part in teaching cycling is to emphasize the basics.

D. If she masters scooting, encourage her to lift up her feet to coast a little.

E. Before beginning, remind her how to put her feet down to stop the bike.

F. Ride along with your child to check whether she’s using proper techniques.

G. Then set up some markers and have her practise pedalling around them, weaving in and out.
