As I grew up,I never questioned his place in our family. In my young mind, each member had a special place. My brother,Bill, who was five years older than me,was my example.Fran,my younger sister, gave me a chance to play “big brother”.My parents were my teachers—Mom taught me to love the Word of God,and Dad taught me to obey it.

The stranger was our storyteller. He could tell the most interesting stories. He could keep us listening for hours each evening. If I wanted to know about polities, history,or science,he knew them all.He knew about the past, understood the present, and seemed to foretell the future. The pictures he could draw with his words were so lifelike that l would often laugh or cry as watched. He was like a friend to the whole family.

He took Dad,Bill, and me to our first baseball game.He was always encouraging us to see the movies and even introduced us to several movie stars. My brother

and I were deeply impressed by John Wayne in particular.

As I look back, I believe that the stranger did not affect us more.Time after time he stood against the values of my parents.Yet he was seldom to blame and never asked to leave.

More than thirty years have passed since the stranger moved in with the young family. He is not nearly so charming to my dad as he was in those early years. But if you were to walk into my parents' room today, you would still see him sitting over in a comer, waiting for someone to listen to him talk and watch him draw his pictures.

“The problem is that a lot of people don’t plan their supermarket trips beforehand,so they do not remember to bring bags from home.”said a supermarket cashier in Beijing.Supermarkets and large department stores across China have carried out the ban fairly well. Many have handed out carrier bags made of recycled cloth to customers.

But the ban was largely ignored or unheard of among small-time wet market vendors(小贩),who said charging for the plastic bags would turn away many customers.“My tofu is only worth 50 cents a piece. It will be very hard to sell if I have to charge 20 cents for the plastic bag,”said a vendor. But according to an expert, this situation won't last long. 61.What’s the best title of the passage?

“What you do is put some frozen meat in the night before.”says Sallin.Bacon is preserved,so there is no danger of it going bad overnight.

“If you set the alarm for 8:00,it will turn on at 7:50 and slow cook

for ten minutes under the bulbs,” he says. Then the bulbs turn off and a fan blows the pleasant smell out through the nostrils(鼻孔)of the pig.“So instead of all alarm or a beep or a radio, you smell yourself awake,”says Sallin.“Then you call open the door on the side and pull the bacon out and eat it.” 66.The purpose of writing the passage is to
